Searching Google for your own site and seeing nothing is a gut punch. Your website not showing on Google is the most common problem new site owners face — and most don't realize it's happening until weeks or months after launch. The good news: it's not a death sentence. It's a distribution problem. Google doesn't automatically discover or trust every new website. It needs signals — backlinks, directory listings, sitemaps, and structured content — before it decides your site deserves visibility.
Most website owners focus on building — not distribution. Here are the most common culprits:
Even if Google eventually finds you, showing up at the bottom of page 10 is the same as not showing up at all. Everything you need to know about indexing and site visibility.
Type 'site:yourdomain.com' into Google. If you see results, you're indexed. If the search returns nothing, Google hasn't indexed your site yet. You can also check Google Search Console for coverage errors and indexing status.
Search Console shows what Google has crawled, but ranking in search results requires authority, relevance, and backlinks. Being indexed doesn't guarantee you'll appear when someone searches for your keywords — you need ongoing SEO signals to climb the rankings.
For a brand new site with no backlinks, expect 4–8 weeks minimum. With active submission, backlinks, and directory listings, you can often see your site appear in 24–72 hours.
You can request indexing via Google Search Console's URL Inspection tool. But Google ultimately decides when to crawl. The best way to speed it up is to get a backlink from a site Google already trusts — that's the fastest indexing trigger known.
Submit your sitemap to Google Search Console, get listed in 5–10 startup and web directories, generate at least a few backlinks, and make sure robots.txt and noindex tags aren't blocking Google. Our system handles all of this in under 48 hours.
